Another look at a populare verse (REV 3:20)
| April 9th, 2012Rev 3:20
This is a verse I have often heard used as a message of hope. Jesus is standing at the door waiting for you to open it. When you open the door and let Jesus in, you will be granted eternity with him.
There is a much more frightening context to this verse that I have seen in many people’s relation ship with Christ. This context springs from the social pressure to be all inclusive and politically correct. Let me paint. You a new picture you may not think of when reading this verse. We have all seen the movies and shows where a person is hosting a party at their house. In the excitement and chaos of everyone having such a great time at the party, the host is either. Accidentally locked out or pushed out by those that really don’t want him spoiling the fun. This always end whit the host standing outside his own house knocking on the door, trying to get into his own party.
Every week many of us go to church and bible study to fellowship and learn with other Christians. Many churches are now watering down the sermon as to draw in more people. They are teaching only the portions of the bible that people want to hear, The love, joy and forgiveness. Many time preachers will leave out the suffering of man and the rath of God, fearing they might drive away their follower.
Other churches and study groups have even incorporated eastern meditation and Yoga into the teaching, and often leave out of reinterpret Biblical teachings to be share not to exclude anyone from their folds. This just makes me thing of another verse Mat 7:13-14. Looking here we need to follow the Teaching of Christ and not be as all inclusive as so have become.
If someone will not follow God the way he wants to be followed, they are not Followers of Christ. In ISA 35:8 God calls those who are not willing to follow his way wicked fools, and Jesus warns us to follow the narrow path, for many will try to enter heave, but few will succeed.
Let us not leave Jesus out in the cold just so that everyone at the party is conferable, it is his house after all.
